Meeting Minutes
As meeting minutes are added, they should appear on the menu to the left.
Usually, the minutes from one month are read and approved at the following monthly Board of Directors meeting, and posted here a few days later. This means, using March as an example, that the minutes for the March meeting will normally be read at the April meeting, and usually be posted the 2nd week in April.
If there is no meeting, or no quorum, things will be further delayed. For example: The June '07 minutes were not approved in July '07, as there was no July meeting. So the June minutes wouldn't appear here until after the August '07 meeting.
Please note: The official minutes are under the Meeting Minutes menu to the left. What you see below is merely notes I jotted down during the last meeting, NOT the official Minutes, and will be removed when I get the approved minutes. --Charles B
GFSSC B.O.D. Notes.
Jan 2010
I arrived after the meeting started so I missed the first part--apparently the time was changed to 6:30 with no attempt to notify the membership.
Treasurer reports we've had over a hundred people who have paid their renewal, but have not taken the orientation class. Now that the combination has been changed, angry calls (and some threats) are rolling in. Planning a membership drive in the spring, please come to the March meeting prepared to do some brainstorming.
Membership form revision discussion. The current form confuses new members who don't know the clubs, and don't perhaps want to pick a specific club to become a member.
Bruce asked if we were going to be presenting at the sports show next weekend. No. The bod decided a few months ago, due to the expense, not to have a table. Bruce said FWP will have a table, and offered to put some GFSSC information there if we provided it.
Web site-list of changes made since December meeting. I (CharlesB) will continue to assist, but it will be up to BOD members to let me know what content should be going up here. Stu will get together next weekend to learn how to make updates.
Grants:
Phil tawney application sent off, but unlikely to get anything. They are tied to MWF, and the BOD decided several months ago not to comply with MWF requirements for membership--specifically, the BOD was not willing to provide a list of members names and addresses. In addition, the annual fee would have been several thousand dollars.
FWP grant request is due in May. Sprague will put a preliminary document together and bring it to the next meeting for BOD review.
SRSC is at the top of the rotation this year, so the grant request will probably be to pay for parking lot improvements.
Education: discussed putting links to other web sites, such as to class providers or NRA, and what steps would need to be taken to insure non-political stance in order to continue meeting 501(c)3 requirements.
Construction:
SRSC: Finishing work., Trim and doors. No money at the moment, so no big projects until spring.
McGivern: nothing now.
MRSA: Constructing steel practical shooting (IDPA style) targets. Searching for rails for Silhouette range
Renew CMP affiliation? Some discussion of what benefit the membership derives from affiliation. BOD decided Yes
There was more on the agenda, but I had to leave so I don't know what transpired.
